Postgis 1.0.4 is shipped with shp2pgsql revision 1.88.2.7.
Are you saying that 1.88.2.7 gives you the segfault problem 
while 1.88.2.5 doesn't ?

If this is the case, could you prepare a shapfile to send me ?
It can contain just a few MULTILINESTRINGS if that is enough
to raise the bug.
