I have a combination of PostgreSQL 8.1.4 with PostGIS 1.1.2 sucessfully
running on SLES9. Can you please elaborate a bit more your setup, i.e.
- ./configure call for PostgreSQL
- ./configure call for PostGIS
- output of the PostGIS - make
