[postgis-users] How do PostGIS&SQL Server 2008 with geospatialsupport compare ?

Just to add. From what I have heard. You will not be able to reproject
your data within SQL Server 2008. So this means if you have your data
in geodetic, you can't then convert it to planar without a third party
tool such as FME or Manifold.

Within planar you will not be able to transform from one Spatial ref to
another without a third party tool. I presume this will change over
time and not sure if it will change before release.

Of course the November CTP I don't think has been released yet or I
haven't got my hands on it yet to confirm this. This will be the first
CTP to have spatial support in it.

Anyrate - I'll be trying it out when it comes out for due diligence
since I run big SQL Server 2005 shops and I'll try to report back what I
find.

Thanks,
Regina

Plus Postgis available also on other than the SQL Server-specific OS
and at (near) zero cost. What is big about geodetic support, by the
way?
