Hi All,

Hibernate Spatial, an open source extension to the Hibernate ORM
library for spatial data, has its new home at http://
www.hibernatespatial.org/. This project has already been discussed on
this mailing list under the name Majas Hibernate Spatial - so named
because it was part of the MAJAS project. From now on, it is a
completely separate project with its own project infrastructure -
hence the name change and this announcement.

Hibernate Spatial allows you to deal with geographic data in a
standardized way. It abstracts away from the specific way your
database supports geographic data, and provides a standardized, cross-
database interface to geographic data storage and query functions. It
supports most of the functions of the OGC Simple Feature
Specification. Besides Postgis it can also work with Oracle Spatial
(10g/11g). Support for MySQL is planned for the near future.

If you're interested, mailing lists are available at: http://
www.hibernatespatial.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo

Regards,

Karel Maesen
