Thanks everybody for the heads up! Finally my installation worked out. I had problems cause I installed everything from the sources except proj.4 (used an rpm package). After installing proj.4 from the sources, and after adding the /usr/local/lib path to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH env., it seems as if it is running. So finally my installation is completely build from the sources. Mixing installation-methods like rpm and "from source" seems to end up in conflicts cause they use different install locations for the different methods!?!
