I usually us US National Atlas Equal Area - Meters (SRID 2163)

Though maybe I should try the below and see how my numbers match up.

Subject: [postgis-users] Standard projection for continental US?

Hey All,

I'm wondering if there's an official or standard projection that covers
the continental US? When I first joined the list, Paul kindly provided
this:

INSERT INTO SPATIAL_REF_SYS VALUES (1000000,'ME',1000000,'','+proj=aea
+lat_0=23 +lon_0=-96 +lat_1=29.5 +lat_2=45.5 +datum=NAD83
+ellps=GRS80');

It seems to work accurately enough, I'm just curious if there's a
standard definition like those in spatial_ref_sys.sql.

Thanks,
David
