[postgis-users] Finding the buffer of two points

Hi,

I have two points A and B located in a large region. I need to find the
optimal path between those 2 points. Without considering the whole area (all
the edges), can I consider only a segment that will be required to find the
optimal path. As all the edges (far away roads in other cities) will not be
required to find the optimal path between two points in a city. If all are
considered it will be a waste.

What is the possible function to use and how to solve my issue?
