Ah okay. Those functions actually snap to grid rather than just generate 
it, so it's not quite as simple as that.

I think there are some grid examples on the wiki which may help you: 
http://trac.osgeo.org/postgis/wiki/UsersWikiMain. Alternatively, it 
should be fairly easy to knock up something using the in-built 
PostgreSQL generate_series() function.
