[postgis-users] invalid geometry crashes postgres when trying to use buffer

Thanks a lot, this seems to work fine as a workaround.

Anyone know if this exact problem persists in current versions of
postgis (could be an incentive to upgrade)?

Try reducing the precision of your geometry.

PostGIS doesn't actually have a precision reducer function yet, but
ST_SnapToGrid comes close.
