[postgis-users] Linestring anatomy :)

Hi All,
I am trying to understand, that given a LINESTRING type, I have noticed it
can have multiple points in there.
If a linestring is curved, do these points signify the positions at which
there is a change in direction or
curvature? So that a linestring basically approximates each curved segment
as a sequence of such points?
Also, how can I extract all such points mentioned in a linestring?
