[postgis-users] ST_Union Function error

dear

my large  tiff image stored in databse in tile format.
when I execute following query : select ST_Union(rast)  from demelevat ;
i got error like :

org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: rt_raster_new: Dimensions
requested exceed the maximum (65535 x 65535) permitted for a raster
 Where: PL/pgSQL function
_st_mapalgebra4unionstate(raster,raster,text,text,text,double
precision,text,text,text,double precision) line 13 at RETURN
SQL function "_st_mapalgebra4unionstate" statement 1


pls any suggestion to design query ?
