As far as I can figure out, Hotine and Rosenmund are the same, except for the 
size of the sphere that the ellipsoid is conformally projected to. Hotine 
claims to be equidistant along a geodesic, but it can't be, unless the 
geodesic is the equator (in which case it's just axial Mercator). Laborde is 
different, but the book doesn't give formulas for Laborde.
