OK, thanks. for the record, in Postgresql 8.1 the value
default_with_oids = on in /etc/*/postgresql.conf needs to be activated
manualy, since it is not enabled anymore.

Then QGIS does not complain anymore, but this is not a nice solution,
if one tries to not use OIDs.
