Sounds a very good idea to me, and similar to what Debian people is doing,
if I understand it correcly. I'm also pretty sure a number of bugs are no
longer valid (I closed a few of them after verification).
One caution, however: we have a number of interesting wishes, and also
bugs targeted to 1.0 which nobody is going to address anytime soon, but
still are very useful to keep, so we should have a "nodelete" mark on
those.
