[Qgis-developer] Print composer bugs

After some more research, I'm guessing that at least some of the print
composer bugs are related to the switch from Qt3 to Qt4.  Fonts are rendered
correctly with version .7.4 on Ubuntu, and with .8 on Windows.  With .8 on
Ubuntu, I get things like this:

I propose to modify the print composer to work with the new Graphics View
framework, which will hopefully eliminate these issues.  Are there
significant issues with switching to Graphics View which would make it
difficult?  Are there other things related to the print composer and drawing
I should know about?
