I assume you mean they are not stretched. Open the raster properties 
window, look at the contrast enhancement option in the lower right and 
check your default enhancement behavior.

You can set your default enhancement behavior, by selecting a contrast 
enhancement and then clicking the disk icon, that behavior will be 
persistent between qgis sessions.
