[Qgis-developer] error in vector split plugin

Yes, I think it is quite likely that this is the reason. Judging from your
description above (works for shorter paths, not longer ones), it sounds
like the output names are getting too long. The plugin takes the layer
name plus the attribute name to create a new layer name: this would
produce an extremely long file name, which may be too long for the
shapefile writer. Maybe try exporting the layer to a new shapefile, giving
it a shorter name, and try again? Let me know what happens.

I thought this was always the case? I'm not sure why this would have
changed? It way be that we are stuck with this behaviour, but I'll see if
you can get it back to the way you describe it...

Hmmm, this behavior is odd, and not good. I'll try to produce the same
errors here.
