Hi John,

Thanks for the hint. On Ubuntu, everything seems ok. As long as the main map window does not have focus, the shortcuts are not applied.
Seems an OS X specific issue. I'm going to try it on OS X next week. Maybe also the other file dialogs used in QGIS are affected by this problem?

Today, I noticed that there is at least one problem on OS X. When  
trying to save a composer template, the keyboard inputs are being read  
by qgis as shortcuts. I.e., typing a 'h' in a filename does not put an  
'h' character in the dialog box but hides all the layers on the map.  
This is with your most current advanced printing branch code.
