[Qgis-developer] SVG export

Right now I'm attending the North American Cartographic Information
Society meeting. I did a demo in front of 150 people with QGIS 1.3 which
seemed quite well received(Along with other CA Chapter
members-Postgis,Mapserver,OpenJump). Even helped a mac user fix their
install.

Feedback from cartographic professionals...
We need really good svg export. Basically the majority of professional
cartographers use Illustrator/Photoshop to make their final maps. We
could spend a ton of time with the map composer, but they'll still use
those apps to finish their maps. A large number of this group are Mac
users, and they don't have much love for current products though some
grin and bear using it.

I think if we solve how to output high quality, layered svg a good
number of cartographers will jump on board. Long term I think that will
help bolster the drive to improve labeling, symbology, thematic mapping
which have already come really far. Some of these users are technically
savy (A lot of flash oriented web stuff) so there's a good chance to
pick up some good expertise.

Oh, fyi someone asked me on my way out the door if anyone's got QGIS
running on an OLPC?

Thanks,
Alex
