[Qgis-developer] Distance function between point and polygon/line features

Motta,
Follow up questions:
1- can you create a new line layer that connects the existing point to
polygon/line layers?
2- can you specify the  connection type: point to perpendicular to the edge
of line/polygon layer or point to vertex?
3- can it be done without PostGIS?
