Hi all,
I hope this is the right ml to write about SRS and QGIS.
In QGIS 1.6-1.8 there is SRS: "EPSG:40003". It's a special SRS useful to set
"Monte Mario to WGS 84 transformation". The Domain of Validity is Sicily (in
Italy). Here is the EPSG detail:
http://bit.ly/kYk4WB
In QGIS we have for it:
"+proj=tmerc +lat_0=0 +lon_0=9 +k=0.9996 +x_0=1500000 +y_0=0 +ellps=intl
+units=m +towgs84=-50.2,-50.4,84.8,-0.690,-2.012,0.459,-28.08 +no_defs"
This seems written starting from EPSG:3003 definition (Italy zone 1) -
"+proj=tmerc +lat_0=0 +lon_0=9 +k=0.9996 +x_0=1500000 +y_0=0 +ellps=intl
+units=m +no_defs" - but Sicily is (almost) entirely inside EPSG:3004 (Italy
zone 2).
My question is: what do you think to insert in QGIS SRS list also a 40004
definition? This one: "+proj=tmerc +lat_0=0 +lon_0=9 +k=0.9996 +x_0=2520000
+y_0=0 +ellps=intl +units=m
+towgs84=-50.2,-50.4,84.8,-0.690,-2.012,0.459,-28.08 +no_defs".
The difference is in "+x_0" parameter.
I'm not a SRS guru, and probably I'm wrong.
Best regards,
a
