[Qgis-developer] 1.8 release?

Hi

Ok lets discuss it at the hackfest, but it is a possibility since we
did not yet break api.

Just bear in mind that there is a large, often silent, group of people
who would prefer bug fix releases over feature releases. I'm going to
be backporting any fixes to 1.7 branch over the next few days with an
eye to putting out a 1.7.2 release during the hackfest.

I suggest at least that we branch 1_8 before we start with the
hackfest proper since I guess we will start ripping things out and
breaking api during the meeting.

Regards

Tim

Using new  (paid :-) features and also an as short as possible time between the last 1.x and 2.0 would be great.
