Hi,
As a resource for a plugin I'm working on, I generated standalone
archives of the API docs for 1.7.4 and 1.8.0 to aid in plugin
development, since the online API docs follow the master branch. This
helps developers to write compatible plugins relative to the user
install base (not everyone upgrades QGIS right away ;^). Also, call
descriptions in the API don't always note when it was added to the
API.
http://dakotacarto.com/qgis/QGIS-API_1.7.4.zip (46 MB)
http://dakotacarto.com/qgis/QGIS-API_1.8.0.zip (58 MB)
I also optimized ~2,290 pngs to reduce archive/expanded size by 25-30%.
Is there a place in the QGIS.org sites for showing these docs; or,
maybe just available as a download?
Additionally (or maybe alternatively), call descriptions could be
updated with appropriate info on what version of QGIS they originated
with. For example, with the 1.8.0 docs there is disparate info on when
calls were added (granted, probably not all of them are public):
23 'added in 1.8'
29 'added in 1.9'
38 'added in 2.0'
Should all of the 1.9 and 2.0 references be switched to 1.8 right now,
before new additions from 2.0 confuse it further?
My QGIS build version still shows '1.9.0-Master', but the new splash
screen references 2.0. Is 1.9 going to be skipped as a release?
