Well, to use it you'd need an ODBC driver - but we wouldn't need to ship (and
link) one.

I think so.  Not sure there is an option to get away without a DSN.

QOCI would be another option - that would require Qt to be built with OCI
support - not sure if that'd impose a licensing problem, given that Qt is LGPL
now.
