Is this possible?
or has the horse bolted?
I'd volunteer to send the letter, but it should probably come from higher up the food chain than me :)
However, I'd be willing to reframe the letter so that they were made aware that there were users that they'd miss out on if they didn't give you reasonable guidelines.
(and send it on a regular basis until you got an answer)
