I had a try this morning. However, this is not really a mosaic that I 
want to create: my different shapefiles can overlap. With the Vector 
Grid Tool, I create a regular grid (unless I miss something).

Actually, what I wish to do is to capture the extent of my first 
shapefile layer, store it in the composer layer and iterate the process 
over the other shapefile layers. Is it possible in QGis ?

As far as I understand, QGis would then rely on this created composer 
layer to iterate over each extent. My problem rely lies in the creation 
of this composer layer.
