Because I was lacking a better idea, I just filled in
* the maximum value of any attribute for histograms
* the maximum value of the scale attribute for circular diagrams

IF the field is left empty. This way, I don't have to care for not 
overwriting any manual changes of the user and subsequent actions such 
as adding attributes.
