Because the extent of data reported in capabilities by server are
sometimes wrong (bigger), the WCS provider verifies true extent by
requesting reported full extent but low resolution (10x10). If the
server does not have overviews, it can take very long time (server
side problem).

Default cache mode is "Always Cache" it could be that you got timeout
the first time and the timeout response is cached.
