Hi,
i think that 3.0 should Also be the occasion to reorganize plugins world. Not just upgrade them, it should be the time to say no to redundant plugins and find a way to somehow oblige developers to put their energy on a single plugin, instead of three almost identical with sometimes buggy features. It would a great step in consistency and coherence for users.

BTW I don't think there's any need for a second alternative QEP. The plans seem to be solidifying well and everyone seems to be satisfied with the general direction this discussion is going. So I'll update my original QEP to reflect this and then we can hopefully move it up to voting.
