[Qgis-developer] News - request time out

I am getting sometimes but quite frequently 'Network request
https://www.google.com/uds/?file=feeds&v=1 timed out', which probably
comes from doc/whatsnew.html (google.load("feeds", "1")). News are
loaded correctly. The request in a browser works ok.

Another problem is authentication telling
'https://www.google.com/jsapi, Unable To Get Local Issuer
Certificate..., Certificate Untrusted: ...' on every launch until I
set 'Do not verify peer certs'.

Unfortunately this happens even if 'Open project on launch' is set to
'New', which means that News are not displayed at all. Would it be
possible to load News page only if it is really shown?

Nice feature, btw, the News.
