[QGIS-Developer] Split line features using QGIS Python

Hi all,
I am new to the QGis Python API, Will u please help for below issue,
Split all line features in a layer at a specified distance by using Qgis Python, Distance is provided by the user. And split can be either from begin or end of the line also decided by the user only.
