There's no blocking reason -- just no-one has coded it yet. It would
be a great starting point to contributing to QGIS code, as the changes
required are very self-contained and there's many developers who could
mentor this.

Alternatively, it's possible to extend QGIS expressions through
Python, so that's a possible approach too!
