[QGIS-Developer] Layer linked Bar diagram in a QDockwidget

Hello devs,

I would like to display a bar diagram in a dock widget which is linked to a loaded layer. The bar diagram itself is a simple one based on a single field in the said layer. The important requirement it to keep the chart in sync with the layer data.

Is there some recommended existing infrastructure that would help me do this?
