[QGIS-Developer] get handle to selected vertices in vertex editor from PyQGIS

Hi,

When user selects 2 or more vertices in the vertex editor of a polyline, I
would like to be able to loop over these objects from Python.

Is this possible?

I get the impression the vertex editor is shielded off from Python
scripting.
