[QGIS-Developer] Grant report: Integrate GPS Tools plugin functionality into core QGIS

+1 - if it would be possible to remove the qwtpolar dependency (but 
apprently not part of this grant).

I remember I had troubles in the past because qwtpolar dependencies.
