[QGIS-Developer] [Qgis-psc] Theoretical discussion: A QGIS paid plugin marketplace?

Hi everyone,

It seems I have too much time on my hands, semi retired but keen to keep
busy, lol,

With there being over 1000 plugins, the Key Word search in the Plugin
Manager is very good at shortlisting plugins of interest. I do like it, and
having added 2 plugins I have seen it work very well.

I personally see the sum total of QGIS with its Plugin Capability,
PostGRES/PostGIS and GeoPackages as being able to support a Market Place
much like what MapInfo, AutoCad and ESRI have. I.e. Not just Plugins but
also data and services.

Buy Autodesk Software | Get Prices & Buy Online | Official Autodesk Store
<https://www.autodesk.com.au/products>
ArcGIS Marketplace | Location Data Marketplace - Esri Partners
<https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis-marketplace/overview>
MapInfo Marketplace - Precisely
<https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=b16abb200dc91602JmltdHM9MTcwNzI2NDAwMCZpZ3VpZD0yOTdhZWUzOC01MWFhLTY0ZjAtMjk3NS1mYzUxNTAzNzY1YjEmaW5zaWQ9NTE5Nw&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=3&fclid=297aee38-51aa-64f0-2975-fc51503765b1&psq=mapinfo+marketplace&u=a1aHR0cDovL21hcGluZm9tYXJrZXRwbGFjZS5wcmVjaXNlbHkuY29tLw&ntb=1>

I would also like to see QGIS developers, PostGRES/PostGIS Specialists have
a place to advertise their skills and seek income. E.g.

The Best Freelance Python Developers For Hire | Freelancer
<https://www.freelancer.com/find/python>
Fiverr - Freelance Services Marketplace <https://www.fiverr.com/>

I also think it should be run separately from QGIS itself, simply because
if it were something like "www.QGIS.Org/MarketPlace" it would put QGIS on a
commercial base. I like Even's idea of licensing QGIS Trademarks and
branding in return for a commission on all sales. I would probably go one
step further and have a senior QGIS member on the board of this new entity.

All up it is a lot of work, I have been trying to size it for a week or so
now. Even when it is built it will need ongoing development and maintenance
to keep it current.

My two cents worth
Roger
