[QGIS-Developer] Regression in LTR: multiple reports about projection/transformation issues

Hi all,
I think it's important to bring to your attention that there are several 
reports regarding a regression occurring in QGIS LTR 3.40.4 about an 
issue in the rendering of layers when a CRS transformation is involved 
in some circumstances.

In such cases the following warning is logged multiple times:
WARNING    Could not reproject layer extent: Forward transform 
(EPSG:3857 to EPSG:3005) of bounding box failed: Coordinate to transform 
falls outside grid

It looks like the issue didn't occur using QGIS <= 3.40.3, included QGIS 
LTR 3.34 (the users are now updating QGIS LTR from 3.34 to 3.40).
