[QGIS-Developer] Area or Rubber Band when Subclassing QgsEditTool

[Catania, Luke A ERDC-RDE-GRL-VA CIV]

I am subclassing QgsEditTool tool and when I run it and select the Vertex Tool that displays the rubber band when dragging a vertex or extending a side how to I get access to that rubber band so I can get the area?
