Thanks Tim for being frank (Frank?). Yes, that's my perception, and by raising this
point I'm trying to make this an explicit choice, rather than a creeping feeling.
Setting aside idealism, I think we should consider real threats and opportunities,
and going the appropriate way: if risks are very low in the long term, let's simplify
and move on; if not, let's consolidate an alternative approach.
