Hi All

So yes the plan is to do it before the conference in Zanzibar (a short ferry ride or flight from Dar). We originally planned to do it after (as other code sprinting happens then) but Lene felt it is better that we do it before when people are still ‘fresh’. I agree with her. Yves Barthelemy is our local contact there and he is going to help us organise a venue at the local university.

Yves and Lene unless there are any objections I am going to fix the dates as we have them on https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/wiki/DeveloperMeetingZanzibar2018 so that people can start making their travel plans.

Can you send our an announcement to the QGIS User and Dev lists too Lene? Or can I go ahead and do that?

For the user conference, our plan is to slipstream that as a track into the main conference, same for the workshops. I have added in CC friends from the FOSS4G LOC who will work with us to ensure that we give a good QGIS conference experience in our programme.

For those unsure whether to attend, I can tell you have been to both Zanzibar and Dar, you will have a great experience seeing a different culture and meeting a section of our user base that you will never normally encounter at our normally EU focussed events, so please come!

Regards

Tim
