[Qgis-psc] Discussion around changing sponsors to members in QGIS.ORG

Hi PSC,
I have mixed feelings when reading this.
It feels weird to give a member status without voting rights. And I would
also be against giving voting rights based on the amount of money received
(or number of sponsors, but that's roughly equivalent).
Currently, local groups can offer such membership and they get voting
rights (at least in Switzerland). Maybe some clearer canvas could be
defined there and applied in all groups ?
I am far away from being against the idea you proposed Andreas, but I
wonder if it is not time for a more ambitious offer for (large)
organizations using QGIS.
We have talked a few times about proposing maintenance and support offers
in collaboration with companies involved in QGIS development. It could be
the right time to push this idea forward. This is a quite complex topic,
there we nice ideas around but nothing complete yet. Let's not maybe not
get into details, but stay on the idea?
But maybe, one thing does not prevent the other one.
Cheers,
Denis
