Hi,

Forwarding this mail from Steven Feldman, who wants to investigate whether
OSGeo projects involve product management strategies. I wonder who of the
PSC would be the best to fill in his questionnaire and be interviewed? See
his request below.

I don't we have much product management strategy in QGIS. What he have is
the strict time-based release process (which proved to be very useful),
along with the LT releases. We also have the QEPs and discussion mailing
lists.

Other than that there is not much product management going on. Or do you
have other insight/ideas?

Jürgen - do you want to participate in the questionnaire/interview?

Greetings,
Andreas

Hi Andreas

I wonder if you could help me? I sent this mail to the Discuss list and
also directly to Paolo. I am very keen to get someone from the QGIS PSC or
other leadership to participate in my study of product management
processes. Could you forward this to the right person?

Thanks very much

Hi

I am doing a little bit of research into product management strategies and
processes within OSGeo. The purpose is to inform a talk that I hope to
present at FOSS4G and/or FOSS4GUK later in the year.

My aim is to explore and compare approaches to product management across
several well known OSGeo projects.

Amongst the questions that I will *try* to answer

   - Does the Open Source collaborative development model incorporate and
   support product management disciplines?

   - Are there formal product management strategies within the OSGeo
   Community?
   - How is a roadmap developed?
   - Are there best practices that we can learn from and share?

If you are a member of a Project Steering Committee and would be willing to
participate in this research effort by completing a short survey and
possibly a follow up interview please contact me or forward this mail to
someone within your project who might be interested in participating.

Thanks for any help

Steven
