I found this confusing as well when organising our pre-regional FOSS4G QGIS
meet-up. I have personally delineated them as the following- happy for
corrections.
- Qgis Conference: Large International event
- User Meeting: National or regional meet-up
- Hackathon: meet-up where work is undertaken to improve elements of
QGIS including: website, documentation, product development,
feature/function/core development - occurs at any level
- Contributors Meeting: meeting for QGIS Contributors
For instance, with the FOSS4G 2025 occuring in Auckland NZ next year in
November, I hope a QGIS event will run of some kind prior to it - which may
occur on the sweet Waiheke Island at Onetangi Beach - it would possibly
take the form of a Hackathon that will be organised by the regional QGIS
User group.
On another matter, when the Wiki <https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/wiki>says
you can add in your meet-up, is this only for the big ones, or can we put
regional ones as well?
- Also is it ok to delineate that the conference is held for the
'Northern Hemisphere' Spring as well.
Cheers
