 Jef, Thanks for your helpful report.  I think it is reasonable for us to
 conclude that Jasper and Kakadu properly read, write, and display JPEG2000
 images.  I think that QGIS depends upon GDAL to display JP2 images, so
 there may be no QGIS code to change to get QGIS to display JP2 images with
 the correct colors.
