 Back to the original problem:

 (under Vista) using the mapset in the qgis demo dataset I notice that if
 the the raster is added trough the qgis GRASS toolbar, then removing it
 from the legend do not causes a crash. If the same raster is added via the
 GRASS browser, then when removed from the legend qgis always crashes, even
 if you meanwhile close de mapset.

 Seems to confirm no problems under xp.
