 Attention! all I commented in comment # 30 is true also under Linux!

 Moreover I compiled now qgis with your latest patch and as far I can see
 the situation is getting better (colors are not scrambled) but in the qgis
 raster properties the colorbands are still not defined (and this still
 causes the value tool error, forgive me). See attached image.
