Dear QGIS users,

additional to the "Release Team" [1] we are looking for volunteers to build
a new QGIS "Community Team" [2] to update, extend, and improve the services for
our community.

Tasks we want to establish/improve and need help for are:

- manage, extend, update, and review documentation (manual, broshure, ...).
- manage and translate documentation (manual, broshure, ...) into foreign
languages (see documentation writers corner [3]). Here we already have many
contributers, but we would like to have more people getting involved
- manage the translations of the graphical user interface (see translators
corner [4]) and find more people for more languages.
- take care of the wiki "user corner" [5] and make it a drop-in center for users
  (add interesting links, tipps etc.)
- manage the conference corner [6]. Find and add interesting conferences for
QGIS (maybe a conference calender), organize lectures and workshops together
  with the community
- Manage the QGIS website [7] and blog [8]. Adding and updating content,
  reviewing, ...
- ...

We are looking for people who are willing to invest some time so we can spread
the work between small groups of people who each would have a specific area of
resposibility. You don't need to be a programmer at all to be part of the team.

Some of you already sent me emails within the last weeks/months that you are
interested to help and contribute, thank a lot! This makes me confident that we
can get started soon!

For the beginning, if you are interested to help, I would like to ask you to
write a short mail to me (otto dassau) and in copy to the doc ML [9] (after
subscribtion) with some background information and what task you can imagine to
do in the team. The QGIS doc mailing list will be used for all "community
team" related discussions.

I started to update the Community part at the QGIS wiki [10], and will add more
information soon and keep you uptodate via the mailing list.

thanks a lot in advance for any assistance you can give!

Kind regards,
 Otto
