[Qgis-user] how to add a column using the QGIS interface

There is one plugin which will add a column, but it generates a new 
shapefile. TableManager in Borys repo

You can try to cheat it and use OpenOffice to add a new column. Although 
I hear there's a bug in 2.4 that doesn't write dbf files properly.
