[Qgis-user] how to add a column using the QGIS interface

Unfortunately, qgis is only able to add columns to pgsql data layers  
at this time, to my knowledge. Shapefile editing can occur within the  
bounds of the current table structure for columns, and records can be  
added with editing tools, but not columns.
