[Qgis-user] QGis v0.10.0: Digitizing & v.in.shape?

Hi list,
sinced my searches in this list weren't successfull I ask now:

Somehow I do not understand how the button for digitizing ('Objekte
trennen', 'splitting objects'(?)) should work. Everything I tried so far was
without any effect.
By the way: is there a possibility to combine 2 lines? I haven't found such
a thing.

Because of this I tried to use the Grass (inside QGis) digitizing
functionality. But here another problem occurred: most of my data is stored
as shp-files. So I tried to import them to Grass-QGis just to find out
v.in.shape is not installed. Is there a way to install it afterwards?
